Save Money by "Double Dip"

April 5th, 2011 at 08:47 pm

The words "double dip" reminds us of the close miss with the last recession on rebound. Thankfully economy is improving.

Here I am talking about the good "Double Dip" (no it is not a doughnut).

Everybody uses coupons for grocery right?
Here is a tip. Save a coupon if you can, clearly mark the date of expiry.
Now start looking for the in-store flyer or the manufacturers discount for the same stuff after about 3-5 of filing the coupon. There is a more than 50% likelihood of getting a discount on that item.
Now you can dig up your coupon and unless it is expired, enjoy your double dip.

Oh, I wish I could do that! here most stores and manufacturers make it clear that: coupon is valid on regular priced items only, not valid with other offers... Frown

@miclason - I was not talking about combining two offers. See if there is a markdown in store (for example a tag which says "$4.50 was $5.0") then it is not a special offer and the price marked becomes the regular price. If the coupon is still valid then it will be applied.

When grocery shopping, if an item's price has been lowered for ANY reason, especially if it is "On Sale", that is the best time to use your old or new coupons and you get the item for the least amount...today I went to Kroger & they had Top Ramen on sale for $.23 ea. I had 10 coupons for top ramen @ $.25...the pix on the coupon showed a pkg of "chicken" but if you read the print on the coupon, it is valid for beef or chicken, to which I got 10 packeges & I actually got a credit of $.02 per pkg towards my basket total! In other words, Kroger paid me $.20 total for taking 10 packeges of "Top Ramen" off there hands....If I had had 100 coupons, I could of kept 20 pkgs for myself & donated the other 80 to my local food bank, which I normally do!!!!!!!!& Kroger would have paid me $2.00 to do so........by the way, this Kroger didn't double my coupon on that item like they should have(and I didn't catch it!)which means they actually owed me another $2.50!!!!!!!!

Your whole world just fell apart. Or so you think! Imagine that for years you and your partner have been planning a vacation to some faraway island somewhere, far away from work, school or just your everyday routine. When you finally reach the island, you realize that the money you both have been saving was stolen, completely gone. In instances like these, you wish you had some other alternative, other than cash. With the world as it is now and the inconveniences we face daily, we wish that we had something to help us in our time of distress and agony of either the loss or theft of cash. Credit cards can be as much help to everyone in times like these
